Northern Ireland Study Trip
The Northern-Ireland study trip is an annual trip for Peace & Development Studies students. This study trip is a great chance for students to learn more about the Northern Ireland conflict. During the trip we will visit NGOs, governmental bodies and political sites of Belfast and Londonderry, for example: Community Dialogue, Northern Ireland Assembly, Good Relations Unit at the Belfast City Council.
The Northern-Ireland study trip is an annual trip Peace & Development Studies students have gone to since…hmm, does anyone know anymore? Ask the former participants and they will not be shy in praising the experience – some say you learn more during the trip than you ever could in a classroom, not to mention the fun memories and bonding that take place in the group!
In the weeks leading to the trip we are going to meet up to discuss the Northern-Ireland conflict. Independent research and preparation are vital so you will have questions to ask and understand what you will be learning during the trip. A lot of people we are going to meet are giving up their free time to tell you about their experiences and answer any of your questions – please respect that and take the maximum out of the opportunity!
We will be staying in hostels, breakfast included. In addition to the cost of the trip, you will be asked to cover your own food costs other than the meals included in certain visits. In previous years students have gone shopping in the supermarket and cooked together at the hostel as most hostels have cooking facilities. There will also be a few occasional pub visits and meals out (optional).
Since Northern-Ireland is part of the UK, you don’t need a visa or a special permission to go there. However, everyone must have some form of identification with them.
**In addition to making this payment you will be required to complete a Student Travel Approval Form within 24 hours. Please read your confirmation email carefully and email Aleksandra Czech if you have any questions**
