Description

After working at the University for 16 years, the last six of which she has been Vice-Chancellor, Shirley is retiring.

Detailed Description

Shirley has been proud to lead a values-led organisation and one that makes a considerable impact: from our cutting-edge research to changing the lives of our young people who go on to make a difference, locally and globally

Rod, Chair of Council said – “Shirley has made an outstanding contribution to the University of Bradford. As a health practitioner who worked for the NHS before entering higher education, Shirley worked at both the University of Teesside and Liverpool John Moores University before joining the University of Bradford as Dean of Health Studies in 2009. Once here, she quickly progressed into the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor Learning and Teaching in 2011, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor in 2015. Shirley became our Vice-Chancellor in 2019 and has led the University through the Covid-19 period and the current financial crisis we and the sector are navigating.”

Shirley has decided to retire to enable her to spend time with her family.
